Bethany McLean’s Weekend Reading List: Flash Crash, Alaska, and Venture Capital

Corruption, lobbying, corporate malfeasance, and frauds: a weekly unconventional selection of must-read articles by investigative journalist Bethany McLean.

Remember the flash crash of 2010? Here’s the long-awaited story of what really happened in short form.

For the longer form, buy Liam Vaughan’s excellent new book, appropriately titled… Flash Crash!

For another great look at human nature, read this (slightly) oldie but goodie which I’d managed to miss over the holidays, but saw courtesy of Philip Ordway’s excellent newsletter.

And if you missed this from the most recent New Yorker, all I can say is that it left me with a peculiar mixture of schadenfreude and fear. Shouldn’t all great business stories do just that?
