Jakub Hajda

Jakub Hajda is an Assistant Professor of Finance at HEC Montréal. He received his PhD in Finance from HEC Lausanne and Swiss Finance Institute in 2021. His research explores a broad set of topics in corporate finance, including corporate governance, product markets as well as the interactions between financing policy and innovation. He has published in top finance journals including Review of Financial Studies and Journal of Financial Economics.

In a new paper, Jason Chen, Jakub Hajda, and Joseph Kalmenovitz show that a pay-for-performance system has a surprising effect: it increases regulatory effort but also motivates regulators, especially the productive ones, to quit and join the private sector.
