Edoardo Peruzzi

Edoardo Peruzzi is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Philosophy, Leibniz University Hannover. His research interests include the history and philosophy of economics, general philosophy of science, and competition economics. He is currently working on two projects: the first examines the construction and transfer of game-theoretic models and their role in advancing scientific progress within the social sciences. The second investigates the transfer and application of scientific models in legal proceedings, particularly in antitrust law. Edoardo earned his PhD in Economics in May 2024 from the Joint Program of the Tuscan Universities. He has been a Research Fellow at the Center for the History of Political Economy at Duke University and the TINT Centre for the Philosophy of Social Science at the University of Helsinki. His work has been published or is forthcoming in the Journal of Economic MethodologyHistory of Political Economy, and Philosophy of the Social Sciences, among others.

Expert Economist Testimonies Are Challenged More Often in Antitrust Cases

In a new working paper, Edoardo Peruzzi shows that under the Daubert standard for admissibility of expert witness, economists face more frequent challenges in antitrust litigation than in other legal domains, like patent or labor law. Additionally, plaintiffs’ experts are more likely to face a Daubert challenge than defendants’ experts.
