Alain Marciano is a professor of economics at the University of Montpellier, France. His research focuses on political economy: rules and norms, spontaneous cooperation, and possible obstacles to cooperation. He is interested in law and economics and the history of economic thought, especially after 1950. One of his main areas of interest is the work of James Buchanan, of which he is currently writing a biography. He is co-editor of the European Journal of Law and Economics.
