ProMarket’s Special Interest newsletter is evolving to better support scholars in our community. The weekly update will now feature curated academic opportunities and highlight the real-world impact of ProMarket contributors in news, research, and policy.

Special Interest, ProMarket’s popular weekly newsletter, is getting two exciting updates for its three-year anniversary. We’ll be supporting our community of scholars by collecting and posting opportunities such as conferences, calls for papers and fellowships. We’ll also be highlighting the impact of our contributors’ work in news outlets, academic papers and policy reports.

Secondly, we want to highlight the real-world impact of the scholars who take the time to write for ProMarket. Each year, ProMarket articles are cited in hundreds of news outlets and papers, as well as major policy reports and federal rulemaking. We’re pulling back the curtain so that  our contributors can see  how influential their ProMarket articles are. This information will also be collected in a new page on our website, which will premier next week.

The landscape of political economy research is vibrant and ever-evolving, but finding the right opportunities to share and develop ideas can sometimes feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. We’re excited to make that search a little easier.

Starting today, ProMarket will include a curated list of academic opportunities in political economy across the United States. Whether our readers aim to keep up with conferences, calls for papers, or fellowship opportunities, Special Interest is where to find them all in one place.

This initiative stems from our commitment to fostering meaningful academic discourse and supporting scholars at all career stages. As a publication that regularly features contributions from researchers across disciplines – from economics and law to political science and history – we understand the value of connecting academics with opportunities that can advance their work and impact.

For academics and universities looking to reach our community of scholars, practitioners, and policy enthusiasts, we’ve made the process simple. You can submit your opportunity through our online form, and after our review, it will be featured in our weekly roundup. We’re particularly interested in opportunities that explore the intersection of markets, institutions, and policy – themes that have been at the heart of the Stigler Center’s mission.

Think of this as your weekly academic bulletin board, but one that reaches beyond the confines of a single department or institution. In a field as interconnected as political economy, we believe making these opportunities more visible can only enrich the quality of research and discourse.

Have an upcoming workshop, conference, or fellowship to share? We look forward to helping you connect with scholars who share your intellectual curiosities.

Articles represent the opinions of their writers, not necessarily those of the University of Chicago, the Booth School of Business, or its faculty.
