Pre-tenure scholars based at institutions outside the United States can now apply for the Stigler Center Affiliate Fellowship. Applications are due January 16.
The George J. Stigler Center for the Study of the Economy and the State at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business designs, discusses, and disseminates ideas and research on political economy, the role of special interests, and the future of capitalism. To that end, the Center supports research on the political, economic, and cultural obstacles to competitive markets, organizes conferences and workshops, hosts fellows and experts to enrich the public debate, and publishes academic papers.
To continue supporting the research of up-and-coming academics both in and outside the field of economics, the Stigler Center is seeking candidates to join its Affiliate Fellows program starting in the 2024-2025 academic year. Applicants must be pre-tenure scholars and from institutions outside the US.
The non-resident, 3-year appointment strengthens and cultivates a multidisciplinary community of scholars worldwide working on political economy, regulatory capture, and competitive markets. Scholars from economics, law, political science, data sciences, public policy, accounting, and other disciplines that engage in research on political economy are encouraged to apply.
Fellows come to Chicago to attend an annual, invite-only, in-person conference to discuss and improve their early research ideas. Fellows also participate in an online monthly workshop to receive feedback on their work-in-progress articles and have access to the Stigler Center Working Paper Series and ProMarket to help disseminate their research.
The deadline for applications is January 16, 2024.
