Since its launch in March 2016, ProMarket has evolved from a political economy into a publication featuring a rich, diverse array of content. It now seeks an experienced editor to manage its future growth.

ProMarket is the digital publication of the George J. Stigler Center for the Study of the Economy and the State at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. ProMarket discusses, analyzes, and debates issues connected to the field of political economy, such as antitrust and competition, the political power of Big Tech, Section 230, the Covid-19 economy, and the history of economic thought. We have published over 1,000 articles by more than 500 contributors over the years: economists, legal scholars, Nobel laureates, industry experts, historians, policymakers, and journalists.

As we plan for the future, we have taken a look at our successes to date, the changing landscape for content, and asked you—our readers and supporters—about what you want to read more of. Thanks to our readers and contributors, ProMarket has become an academic forum, where academics discuss cutting-edge ideas through rigorous analysis and thinking, and present new and updated research. We hope to build on this and continue to leverage our strengths (brand, contributors, topics, analytical rigor, and programming), while striving to remain accessible to audiences beyond academia. In the coming months, we also plan on expanding our series and making them a permanent feature.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a new managing editor. The managing editor will have editorial responsibility for content published and for maintaining the publication’s ideological neutrality. Along with the Stigler Center leadership, he or she will also be responsible for fostering a growing and diverse network of scholars, partners, and potential supporters. Are you an experienced editor who is passionate about academic research, open to debate, and enjoys working with experts and academics? Then this could be the job for you. Or do you know someone who is up to the task? Let us know.
