I don’t know what inning of the pandemic we’re in. I don’t think anyone does. But we’re not even at the beginning of the beginning when it comes to seeing the aftershocks. The question is, where will the cracks appear first? I’m watching a few areas.

The first, of course, are mortgages.

The second is commercial rents, which have the potential to spill over into the financial system via CLOs.

My hope (maybe prayer) is that if things get bad enough, the world will get creative, maybe even in ways that bring us closer together.
